Kim Jong Un mobilizes military, youth to rebuild after floods leave untold dead

North Korean leader holds Politburo meeting on train to address crisis in multiple northern provinces

Major flooding in North Korea in recent days damaged over 4,000 homes and caused deaths across northern provinces, according to state media, prompting leader Kim Jong Un to visit one disaster site to mobilize recovery efforts.

The Rodong Sinmun reported Wednesday that Kim convened a special Politburo meeting over the previous two days on his armored train near flooded areas, and inspected washed-out homes, roads, railroad tracks and other damaged infrastructure in Sinuiju and Uiju near the Chinese border.
