North Korea launches suspected trash balloons toward South, first since June

Launch follows warnings that ROK would pay ‘dear price’ for continued anti-DPRK leafleting by activists

North Korea launched more “suspected” trash balloons toward South Korea on Thursday, according to Seoul's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), just two days after Kim Yo Jong warned that the South would pay a “dear price” for leafleting by ROK activists.

JCS indicated that westward winds on Thursday afternoon would likely carry the balloons toward the northern Gyeonggi region, advising citizens to be cautious of falling objects.
