New defense white paper underscores advances in solid-fuel weapons and spy satellites, emphasizing ‘grave threat’

North Korea is focusing on improving the quality of its nuclear weapons capabilities through new solid-fuel missiles and spy satellites, according to Japan’s new defense white paper, emphasizing the “grave and imminent threat” that Pyongyang poses to Japan.

Tokyo’s defense ministry published the “Defense of Japan 2024” on Friday, an annual report that describes changes in the security environment surrounding Japan and the country’s defense efforts over the last year.
