North Korea fires 10 short-range ballistic missiles into East Sea: ROK military

Barrage comes day after DPRK sent 260 waste-carrying balloons into South Korea

North Korea fired approximately 10 short-range ballistic missiles toward the East Sea (Sea of Japan) on Thursday morning, according to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), a day after sending a barrage of balloons carrying trash over the border.

South Korean authorities said the DPRK launched the short-range ballistic missiles at 6:14 a.m. KST from the Sunan area in Pyongyang toward the East Sea. Sunan is home to North Korea’s international airport, which the country has often used to stage missile launches.
