UN extends sanctions exemption request for NGO to send aid to North Korea

But South Korean aid agency says Seoul has rejected its requests, scuppering hopes of shipping machine parts to DPRK

The U.N. Security Council (UNSC) extended a sanctions exemption request from a South Korean nongovernmental organization (NGO) to ship aid to North Korea, a notice posted by the U.N. last month shows.

But while the UNSC has approved the shipment, the NGO in question alleged earlier this year that South Korea’s unification ministry has rejected its requests to contact its North Korean partners to arrange the aid transfer.
