US, ROK special forces tasked with North Korea infiltration to hold first talks

Meeting this month could discuss joint decapitation drills against DPRK leadership, expert says

The commanders of U.S. and ROK special operations forces charged with infiltrating North Korea in case of war will hold their first-ever meeting later this month, Seoul’s defense ministry said Tuesday, raising the possibility that the allies will discuss joint decapitation drills against the DPRK leadership.

In a briefing, a defense ministry spokesperson confirmed a report from the Chosun Ilbo that claimed defense minister Shin Won-sik will host the first-ever meeting for the special forces commanders of the country’s army, navy and air force later this month, alongside the commander of U.S. Forces Korea’s special operations unit.
