Human Rights Council requests update to landmark report on North Korean abuses

Activist says call to update Commission of Inquiry is council’s most ambitious action on DPRK human rights in years

The U.N. Human Rights Council adopted a resolution on Friday calling for an update to the landmark Commission of Inquiry (COI) on North Korean human rights abuses, a move one activist called the council’s “most ambitious” in years.

The resolution marks the 22nd straight year the council has condemned abuses in the DPRK.
