55 countries tell UN that DPRK illegally imported oil at least 87 times last year, while China and Russia dispute claims

North Korea blew past a U.N.-imposed cap on oil imports last year, smuggling in up to three times the allowed volume in defiance of international sanctions, according to a new assessment by U.N. member states.

A total of 55 countries have assessed that DPRK tankers delivered refined oil products to North Korea at least 87 times between Jan. 1 and Sept. 15, 2023, the latest U.N. Panel of Experts report states.
