Japan-born North Korean soccer player joins South Korean domestic team

Ri Yong-jik moves to Anyang FC after 11 year career in Japan, becoming latest North Korean to play for ROK club

An ethnic Korean soccer player from Japan who has played for the North Korean national soccer team has made the move to South Korea’s domestic league, joining a short list of players whose careers have spanned both sides of the peninsula.  

FC Anyang released a statement on Thursday announcing that Ri Yong-jik has officially joined the club in South Korea’s K League 2.
