North Korean drones pose major risk to South Korean airports, lawmaker says

Only small fraction of airfields have drone detection tech, Seoul confirms, but level of danger posed is less certain

Very few South Korean airports have equipment designed to detect hostile drones, an opposition party lawmaker told NK News Tuesday, leaving them vulnerable to North Korean reconnaissance and other types of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Democratic Party lawmaker Maeng Seong-gyu said that only three out of 15 airports in the country have the right radars, radio frequency (RF) scanners and Electro-Optical/Infra-Red (EO/IR) cameras to detect drones.
