Global anti-doping body ends restrictions on North Korea after over two years

Removal of DPRK from list of noncompliant countries clears way for its athletes to compete under own flag at Olympics

Global anti-doping authorities have lifted restrictions on North Korea more than two years after declaring it noncompliant with rules governing performance-enhancing drugs, paving the way for its athletes to compete under the nation’s flag at major sporting events.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) announced in a press release on Friday that its Executive Committee voted to remove North Korea’s National Anti-Doping Organization (NADO) from its list of noncompliant members.
