Chinese sportswear firm to supply North Korean national soccer teams’ uniforms

Expert says deal could fall into sanctions gray area depending on how Beijing classifies ‘recreational sports equipment’

A Chinese sportswear company has signed an agreement to sponsor North Korea’s national soccer teams, prompting concerns about possible sanctions violations involved in the transfer of the new uniforms.

Under the agreement between the DPR Korea Football Association and Inlang Sports, the DPRK men’s and women’s teams will wear uniforms supplied by the Hunan Province-based firm, Inlang announced via a press release uploaded on social media on Friday.
