The Moon Jae-in administration failed to take action to save a South Korean fisheries official who ended up in North Korean waters in Sept. 2020, while covering up and distorting the facts about the circumstances that led to his death, state auditors said on Thursday.

The announcement by the Board of Audit and Inspection of Korea (BAI) brings an end to a yearlong investigation into the case of the official Lee Dae-jun, though criminal charges and prosecutor investigations against top Moon administration officials are still pending.
