North Korean media hailed the DPRK women’s soccer team’s victory over South Korean “puppets” at the ongoing Asian Games this week, as athletes from the two Koreas faced off in multiple sports for the first time in over four years.
Before the ongoing multi-sport event in Hangzhou, China, the North Korean women’s side last played a competitive international match in March 2019 and entered Saturday’s quarterfinal against South Korea unranked. South Korea came into the game ranked 20th.
