The U.S. has extended its ban on civilian aircraft entering North Korean airspace for five more years over safety concerns about missile launches and other military activities, the Department of Transportation announced Thursday.

U.S. air carriers, commercial operators and those issued airman certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will be prohibited from entering the Pyongyang Flight Information Region for five years from Sept. 18, 2023, according to a document published on the U.S. Federal Register.
