North Korea has released two images of its failed attempt to put a military reconnaissance satellite into orbit on Wednesday, revealing that the new "Chollima-1" rocket was fitted with what appears to be an engine type also used in the country’s long-range missiles.
The photos published Thursday show a white rocket with a large fairing lifting off from a fixed erecting arm on a new coastal launchpad at the Sohae Satellite Launching Ground in the northwest of the country. NK News was first to analyze that the new launchpad — previously identified by other analysts — was used in Wednesday’s launch based on satellite imagery.
