The U.N. Panel of Experts tasked with monitoring North Korea sanctions has narrowly avoided a disruption to its operations, after an 11th-hour compromise that will force the U.K. coordinator to step down, multiple sources familiar with deliberations told NK News on condition of anonymity.
The Panel, which produces in-depth biannual reports on DPRK sanctions violations, faced an “unprecedented” situation last week that threatened its ability to continue work because of Security Council discord between representatives of P3 members (the U.S., U.K. and France) and China and Russia.
