North Korea’s foreign ministry lashed out against the U.S. on Monday for organizing an informal meeting of U.N. Security Council (UNSC) states on the DPRK’s violations of human rights, accusing Washington of committing “heinous hostile acts” timed with military drills.

The U.S. scheduled the meeting Friday to "identify opportunities for the international community to promote accountability,” Reuters reported last week, citing an undisclosed note from the U.S. and Albania promoting the meeting. Neither Washington nor the UNSC have officially confirmed that the meeting will take place.
