Civic group says North Korea sent invite to discuss family reunions in Pyongyang

Seoul reports it is investigating legitimacy of invitation to South Korean separated families association

A South Korean association for families separated by the Korean War has received an invitation from North Korea to visit Pyongyang to discuss a reunion project, the head of the organization told NK News on Tuesday.

Ryu Jae-bok, president of the Association of South-North Separated Families, said he received the invitation in November after sending a request about the project through a foreign diplomat based in Seoul. But he declined to name the DPRK organization that sent the invite to him and two other colleagues and didn’t explain how they received it.
