The new U.N. special envoy for North Korean human rights Elizabeth Salmon released her first report on Friday, emphasizing unresolved cases of alleged forced disappearances by the DPRK and reiterating her intention to focus her mandate on women and girls.

The introductory report does not include new findings on human rights violations in North Korea but announces that Salmon — who took up her position in July —  will present a second report focusing on the human rights situation of women and girls in the DPRK to the 52nd session of the U.N. Human Rights Council next spring.
