Most Americans think US should focus on issues other than North Korea: Poll

Experts say Ukraine war, pandemic and other problems have crowded out attention on DPRK nuclear weapons

Three in four Americans think Washington should focus on issues other than North Korea’s nuclear weapons program, according to a recent U.S. survey, in what experts described as another sign of greater attention on global developments like the war in Ukraine and China’s rise.

The poll by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, also revealed that only 52% of the American public considers the DPRK’s nuclear program a “critical threat.” The figure is down from 59% last year and 75% in 2017 at the height of U.S.-North Korea tensions.
