Japan retracts its assessment that North Korea launched two SLBMs last month

The change brings Tokyo’s analysis in line with Washington and Seoul's claims of one projectile firing

Japan’s Ministry of Defense has retracted its initial assessment that North Korea tested two submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBM) in October, bringing Tokyo’s analysis in line with U.S. and South Korean claims of a single projectile.

In a statement released Tuesday, the ministry stated that it will review response procedures and improve its capabilities so that such incidents “do not occur again,” though the statement did not explain in detail how Japan plans to advance its capabilities.
