Moon promises ‘strict’ response to activities that hinder inter-Korean relations

The South Korean president continues to press for outreach to North Korea, calls for return to talks

Marking his four-year anniversary in office, South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Monday promised to respond with “strict” measures to activities that break inter-Korean agreements and relevant laws, in an apparent reference to violations of the new “anti-leaflet” law.

“I hope that the people will join hands to create an atmosphere for dialogue,” Moon said in his speech. “It is never desirable to dampen inter-Korean relations by violating inter-Korean agreements and current laws. I stress that the government has no choice but to strictly enforce the laws.”
