North Koreans are stranded in Nigeria or illegally working in local clinics

A 2019 U.N. ban ordered all North Korean workers home, but COVID-19 disruptions leave some still waiting for deportation

Whether they be football players in Europe, construction workers in Russia or healthcare staff in Nigeria, North Koreans working abroad all have something in common: They were supposed to go home by Dec. 2019.

Now, one healthcare professional has told NK News that some North Koreans are still working in Nigeria despite the U.N. ban on overseas DPRK labor, which is meant to cut off cash flows to the country’s nuclear program.
