The United Nations on Tuesday called on North Korea to loosen its COVID-19 border restrictions to allow humanitarian workers and aid deliveries into the country.

The U.N. Human Rights Council (UNHRC) issued the statement as part of an annual resolution condemning North Korean human rights abuses, which passed for the 19th year in a row. Countries including Japan, European member states and the U.S. -- which rejoined the UNHRC earlier this year after withdrawing during the Trump administration -- co-sponsored the resolution, while South Korea gave its “consensus” for the third time in a row.
