North Korea test-fired two short-range cruise missiles over the weekend, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff confirmed on Wednesday, marking the country's first publicly-dated projectile test since U.S. President Joe Biden took office.

Lawmaker Ha Tae-Keung announced on his public Facebook page that North Korea fired the two cruise missiles from its port city of Nampho at approximately 6:36 a.m. KST on Sunday, a date that was also confirmed by an official from South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staffs. Meanwhile, a South Korean military official said that the missiles were detected around North Korea's nearby Onchon city in South Phyongan province.
