North Korea speaks up to defend China amid genocide allegations

DPRK foreign ministry says western countries have a “human rights virus” after US officials accuse China of genocide

After China denied U.S. allegations that it’s committing “crimes against humanity” this week, North Korea chimed in to say that western nations are meddling in Beijing’s internal affairs in Xinjiang and Hong Kong.

On Friday, North Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) issued a statement condemning western nations for creating a “human rights virus” that is “doomed to failure.” The remarks come after both former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and current U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said this month that they believe China’s is committing “genocide” against Muslim Uighurs in Xinjiang.
