Pregnant North Korean woman and teenage girl face possible repatriation in China

The United Nations is urging China not to forcibly return five North Korean defectors arrested in September

The United Nations is trying to rescue five North Korean defectors, including a 14-year-old girl and a pregnant adult female, who are currently at risk of being repatriated back to their home country after Chinese authorities arrested them.

A new U.N. document suggests that the five individuals — one male and four females — were arrested in the east coast city of Huangdao on Sept. 13 during a failed attempt to flee from Shenyang, China to South Korea. They were then held in a police station in Qingdao, according to the document.
