North Korea has grown increasingly paranoid about scrutiny from the outside world in recent years, with state media now phasing out potentially revealing images of ongoing construction projects.

Starting around the end of September, North Korea’s Korean Central Television (KCTV) and other state media outlets stopped showing detailed shots of construction crews building new homes around the country. The projects are part of a major reconstruction campaign following destructive floods and three back-to-back typhoons this summer.
