Washington and Seoul have agreed to create a new working-level consultative group tentatively named “Alliance Dialogue,” according to South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) on Friday.
The decision, made by U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun and South Korea’s vice foreign minister Choi Jong-kun, came as the two agreed to “closely cooperate” on the “speedy” resumption of U.S.-DPRK and inter-Korean talks -- largely at an impasse since the failure of the Hanoi Summit last year.
