Kim Jong Un gifts guns to army officers as North Korea marks war anniversary

Pistols were conferred to a new generation of military leaders, who vowed to defend Kim “at the cost of their lives”

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un praised military officers at a ceremony marking the 67th anniversary of the end of the Korean War on Sunday, conferring commemorative pistols and demanding loyalty in the ongoing “revolutionary cause."

State media reported on the event on Monday, while other reports stated that Kim and top officials visited a war memorial and that preparations are underway for a war veterans conference. The Korean War came to a halt with an armistice agreement on July 27, 1953 — a date that has since been memorialized as an important DPRK holiday.
