MSF, WHO granted more UN sanctions exemptions for health work in North Korea

Second approvals this year for the organizations to allow medical equipment for multiple projects

The UN Security Council's 1718 Committee this week granted new sanctions exemptions to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the aid group Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), allowing the two organizations to bring medical equipment into North Korea for multiple public health projects.

The approvals, detailed in letters uploaded to a UN website, are the second this year for the WHO and MSF, and the 19th and 20th overall humanitarian exemptions granted by the panel since January.
