One of the premier international organizations working to treat tuberculosis (TB) in North Korea received approval last week from the UN to ship a range of sanctioned goods into the country, a UN committee website showed in a notice released Thursday.
The Eugene Bell Foundation (EBF) was on August 9 granted the latest in a string of recent humanitarian exemptions to sanctions, to ship “supplies necessary to maintain and expand EBF’s ongoing diagnosis and treatment program for multi-drug resistant tuberculosis and extensively drug resistant tuberculosis in the DPRK.”
