KPA soldier’s remains returned to North Korea via Panmunjom: UNC

Remains reportedly washed ashore on South Korea’s northwest islands in May last year

The United Nations Command (UNC) on Tuesday at 1145 local time returned the remains of a soldier from the North's Korean People's Army (KPA) across the border at Panmunjom, according to a UNC statement released this afternoon.

The body of the soldier, believed to have died and washed ashore on South Korea’s northwestern islands, were found by Republic of Korea (ROK) Naval Forces in May last year, according to a U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) spokesperson.
