Quarter of defectors polled have considered returning to the North: NKDB

43.5 percent say they are in regular contact with family, friends in the DPRK

Correction at 1430 KST: The article has been amended to reflect the fact that the survey asked defectors whether they had ever thought about returning to the North, not whether they regularly considered it.

Around a quarter of North Korean defectors in South Korea say they have thought about returning to their home country, a poll released by South Korea’s Database Center for North Korean Human Rights (NKDB) showed on Wednesday.
