Retired Commander appointed as Minjoo Party security advisor

Chun In-bum may bolster Moon Jae-in's security credentials ahead of this year's election

Chun In-bum, a former ROK Special Warfare Command Commander, joined the Minjoo Party as its national security advisor over the weekend, a decision possibly intended to counter accusations that the party is sympathetic to the North and anti-U.S., multiple experts said.

“I can assure you that Moon Jae-in, the former leader (of the Minjoo Party) is not a communist,” Chun joked on Saturday evening, during a concert held celebrating the release of Moon Jae-in’s latest book.
