More loudspeakers added on DMZ last week: MND

But questions remain on speakers’ capability, due to corruption charges

South Korea's Ministry of National Defense said Monday more loudspeakers were installed near the DMZ last week. The total number of additional speakers are approximately twenty, according to multiple South Korean reports.

The loudspeakers deployed near inter-Korean border are expected to be clearly audible from over ten kilometers away and can operate under harsh weather conditions. They are intended to broadcast South Korean K-pop songs, government messages and propaganda.
