North Korea fired a "short-range projectile" into the East Sea, South Korean military sources told local media on Tuesday, in an apparent attempt to counteract ongoing joint U.S.-South Korean military exercises.
The projectile, which was fired near North Korea's eastern port city of Wonsan, was reported to have traveled some 200km before landing in the sea, ROK national news agency Yonhap said.
