North Korea’s ‘aspirational’ electricity grid

A large grid map in Pyongyang shows the DPRK's current grid, but also appears to include future projects

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was featured in DPRK media this week, photographed with the construction workers of the recently completed Mount Paekdu hydro power project.

The new plant is unlikely to be operational, but external work on one part of the structure is complete, a project which by some estimates has spent 20 years in the pipeline.
