S. Korea says it will not return North Korean fishermen

Ministry of Unification says it will respect the wishes of three rescued fishermen who want to defect

South Korea’s Ministry of Unification (MoU) officially told the DPRK it would not repatriate three North Korean sailors today, via the South Korean Red Cross.

Five North Korean fishermen were rescued earlier this week near Ulleung Island off South Korea’s east coast, with three saying they wished to remain in the South.
