Female defectors seek attention for North Korean women’s human rights

North Korean women fall victim to human trafficking and sexual violence in military, activists say

SEOUL — Women suffer the most in North Korea and more attention to their human rights is needed, a female defector-activist group called on Tuesday.

The New Korea Women's Union, which consists of female North Korean defectors, held a press conference in the Korea Press Center. Several defectors told their stories, including of human trafficking and sexual violence in the North Korean military.
