Lifting sanctions possible through talks: MOU

Will South Korea insist on admission of guilt in 2010 Cheonan sinking before lifting May 24th Measure?

The South Korean government is considering ending its sanctions on North Korea, provided Pyongyang meets certain conditions, Seoul’s minister of unification said Friday.

Ryoo Kihl-jae said that talks between the North and South would serve as an opportunity to lift the so-called May 24th Measure, which was put into effect in 2010 following the sinking of South Korea’s Cheonan naval vessel.
