Beijing, Seoul agree to FTA, vow to rein in North’s nukes

North Korea’s old ally, rival for legitimacy grow ever closer as trade ties swell

On the day their countries agreed on an effective free trade agreement, the presidents of South Korea and China also vowed to take steps to rein in the North’s nuclear program.

South Korean President Park Geun-hye and Chinese President Xi Jinping met for a summit on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Forum (APEC) on Monday in Beijing.
