Paper: North Korea moves tank divisions to province bordering China

Chosun Ilbo reports fears of 'betrayal'; paper has history of anonymously sourced reports

A conservative South Korean daily has reported that North Korea has moved several tanks and armored divisions to a province bordering China.

The Chosun Ilbo, quoting an anonymous source, said about 80 tanks had been sent to Ryanggang Province. The move was reportedly to reinforce the 12th Corps, intended to respond to movements in the Chinese military in case of an emergency.  With the reinforcements, the source said the corps had been “turned into an attack force.”
