Pyongyang restaurant launches loyalty card

Latest sign of emerging middle class, market forces in North's capital

Recently released pictures of a North Korean restaurant launching a customer loyalty card to attract more customers has hinted at a new wave of capitalism in the world’s most isolated nation.

According to Chosun Exchange, an organization that provides professional training for North Korean students, Pyongyang's Haemachi (Sunrise) restaurant and retail complex has released a loyalty card, which operates like a typical customer loyalty card, enabling customers to earn points every time they purchase something and use the points on future purchases.
