U.S. blocking peace on peninsula – N. Korean media

Rodong Sinmun says U.S., not North Korea, is committing provocations on Korean Peninsula

North Korean state media on Monday accused the United States of being the sole dissenting voice against its recent open letter to South Korea.

The Rodong Sinmun editorial reported that Deputy Secretary of State, William J. Burns, “vociferated about ‘possible reckless act and additional provocation danger of north Korea’” while visiting South Korea. Assistant Secretary of State Daniel Russel, head of the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, allegedly endorsed this comment. According to the article, the Commander of the U.S. Pacific Command said that he was “most concerned about ‘north Korea’s nuclear capacity’ and ‘north Korea’s nuclear threat’” which could potentially “impose calamity not only on the U.S. mainland, but on the Korean Peninsula and plunge the world into confusion,” the report said.
