U.S. negotiators say no to nuclear power recognition for NK

Former American envoys to North favor other types of ‘carrots’ in dealing with Pyongyang

A trio of nuclear negotiators who have attempted to solve the North Korean nuclear riddle agree: The U.S. should not recognize the North as a nuclear power, regardless of their capabilities.

NK News discussed the prospects for nuclear negotiations with Ambassadors Stephen Bosworth, Jack Pritchard and Charles Kartman. Bosworth was the U.S. point man for negotiations with North Korea from 2009-11, while Kartman led North Korean talks in the late 1990s, after which he was succeeded by Pritchard from 2001-03.
