Reading about oneself is a strange experience. (Though I dare say if you’re Kim Jong Un you must get used to it.) As a merepotong saram, I’m flattered that NK News deemed me worthy of interview, and am most grateful to Matt for all the time and hard work he has put into this.

Perusing these pieces, rightly or wrongly I have resisted two temptations. One is to row back from a few of my more contentious statements. The other is to tidy up speech into something more orderly. As will be all too evident, I don’t tend to speak in well-formed sentences. But what I would like to do is to add something. The interview is full of my opinions, but in the end these and any reputation I may have stand or fall on the quality of my writings on Korea. There are a lot of these, some better known than others. Hence it may be helpful to give an overall view of the work I do, and flag up where some of it – but not all, alas – can be found.
