North Korea condemns South Korean secret transcript leak

NLL leak was designed to distract from allegations regarding spy agency election meddling, North says

SEOUL – North Korea has condemned Seoul's decision to release previously classified minutes from the 2007 North-South Korean summit of a conversation between Kim Jong Il and Roh Moo-hyun regarding the disputed inter-Korean western maritime border, a statement released in the early hours of Thursday morning said.

During the 2012 presidential, election conservatives from Park Geun-hye's ruling Saenuri Party accused Roh Moo-hyun of trying to "give up" areas of the border––the Northern Limit Line (NLL)––to North Korea. This is an accusation South Korean progressives deny, and argue has been resurrected now so as to distract from allegations that the South Korean National Intelligence Service (NIS) attempted to influence the 2012 election.
