LONDON - NK News recently had the opportunity to meet Dr. James Hoare for an extended conversation about his thoughts on engagement with North Korea.
As the man who helped establish the UK’s Pyongyang embassy in 2001, Hoare is well known for suggesting that policies of engagement can be used to help stimulate long-term change in the DPRK. But after North Korea launched another long-range rocket, tested a third nuclear device, and ratcheted up tensions to levels unseen for many years, that line of thinking recently took a serious blow in mainstream discourse.
